    UK student Visa is called Tier 4 (General) visa which follows a points-based system and to successfully apply for it you need to score 40 out of 40 points.

    Step 1:

    1. Course confirmation: you must receive a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a university. This will be emailed to you when you have accepted your unconditional offer. You must include your ORIGINAL certificate or transcripts detailed in the CAS with your visa application.

    2. English Language : Your CAS will state how the University assessed that your English language ability, you need to submit evidence as needed/mentioned on CAS

    3. Approval Scheme (ATAS) Certification: Your CAS will tell you if you need an ATAS certificate.

    Part time work Opportunities

    Students can work 40 hours per fortnight during any fortnight while the course is in session (Note: A fortnight means a period of 14 days beginning on any Monday and ending on the second following Sunday), providing more flexible work conditions for student visa holders and their employers. And also students will be able to work unrestricted hours during any scheduled course break.

    Postgraduate Students can work unlimited hours once their masters by research or doctorate course has commenced. Dependants can also work unlimited hours once the student has commenced their masters or doctorate course.

    Important: Once the student has commenced their HDR course unlimited work conditions only apply. If student is studying a preliminary course E.g ELICOS on a subclass 574/Postgraduate Research Sector visa is limited to 40 hours per fortnight of work while the student is under the preliminary course.

    Working on campus

    As a foreign student, you may work in Canada for 20 hours without a work permit if:

    • If you hold a valid study permit for Canada, and

    • If you work on campus of the university or college , being registered as a full-time student in a degree-granting course of study Graduate assistants/ fellowship students/ teaching assistants

    If you are doing graduate level work as a research or teaching assistantship, you may work without a work permit in accordance with the terms for working on campus. You can also work off campus without a work permit under the following circumstances:

    • If you hold a valid study permit for Canada

    • The work you will do related to research grant strictly

    • The off campus facility such as teaching hospital, research institute, library, etc has formal association or affiliation with the college or university where you study

    • If the work is directed by a faculty member or department head

    Healthcare students

    If you are a foreign healthcare student (medical, nursing, physiotherapy, etc.) not enrolled in a university or other educational establishment in/around Canada you may do a clinical clerkship/medical elective at a Canadian medical teaching institution. You do not need a work permit or study permit if the main purpose of the work is to acquire training. A normal training practicum should not exceed four months.

    Co-op and internship students

    Work experience is part of the curriculum for some Canadian academic programs, foreign students who are enrolled in a school in Canada and who wish to participate in a co-op or internship program need both a study permit and work permit.

    Intakes :

    International students need to plan for their studies in Canada 1 year in advance. The major intake for Canada is 'Fall' i.e September, the other intake is in the month of 'Winter' i.e. January, but it purely depends on the students program and the institution that he/she is applying to. Very few universities/Colleges might have the May intake as well.

    1. For PG diploma / Graduate diploma: A successful study at a recognized institution of university standing with good honors degree. 2. For a bachelors program : While most Canadian universities and colleges require a minimum of 12 years of formal secondary education for admission to undergraduate courses, Ontario and Quebec universities require a minimum of 13 years of formal education 3. For graduate Programs: Most colleges and universities require 16 years of formal education and Four Year Degree Programme comparable to a Canadian Honors degree for Master’s degree programmes. To get the admission in University, students should have High level of academic achievement in previous studies , Strong reference letters ,Written Statement 4. For Doctorate programmes, you have to have a Master’s degree in the subject. 5. For masters Standardized tests such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for admissions 6. Work experience required for MBA along with GMAT for university admissions 7. Academic gap – usually not more than 2 years

    Apply for a Visa /How to Apply

    Step 1:

    A letter from the institution confirming the student's admit is necessary to be eligible to apply for the Student Pass. The application for obtaining a Student Pass can be completed online at the Student Pass Online Application and Registration System (SOLAR) @ link (

    Step 2:

    Application is submitted to the Singapore Embassy in your country of Residence, India houses three Singapore Embassies located at New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.

    Step 3:

    Once the application for Student Pass has been approved by the immigration SBC will send the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter to you through email, This IPA letter will act as ones visa to enter Singapore.
